The Mindful Messages Mentoring Program is designed to reconnect youth ages 11 to 18 to their creative inner spirit and to celebrate culture from an Africentric point of view. For youth who are non African American this information has proven to be helpful in expanding their world view. The MMMP was also created for the purpose of empowering youth with valuable life skills and self knowledge. The only materials needed for this program are the Mindful Messages book and workbook. With both books the MMMP can be administered effectively and efficiently. However to deliver a full comprehensive program the Mindful Messages Teacher’s Guidebook is necessary.

Mindful Messages Mentoring Curriculum... |
| The MMMP is alphabetized and easy to follow. The MMMP book contains 26 poems and the workbook is formatted into 12 lessons and contains 145 exercises. Each lesson is based on phrases taken from one or two poems. The questions and exercises provide health, culture and life skills information that is vital to healthy youth development. The answers are fill-in-the-blank, multiple choice and/or short answer. Some of the answers are common sense, others require some thought, but most of them can be found in the Mindful Messages Book. |

The MMMP Learning Flow... |
The MMMP uses a blend of traditional teaching methods to achieve its goals and objectives. In the workshops we also utilize the holistic healing energy of drumming and mindful meditation, (breathing) to help youth center and focus. We also like to have youth read the African Pledge during each workshop, to create a more unified consciousness. (This part of the program is optional but has been proven to very effective and empowering for all youth.)

|
| Group discussions on the messages, phrases and theme(s) of the poem is encouraged after each poetry reading. During this time, youth can also discuss the meaning of the Adinkra symbols and the African proverbs and are encouraged to learn more about Africentirc beliefs, philosophies and values. The time to complete each lesson will vary depending on your time and commitment to the program.
