Welcome to Ashay by the Bay. We are located in Vallejo, Calfiornia near San Francisco. Deborah Day, the Founder and President, started the company in 1997 and began selling books in 2002. Ashay by the Bay is a publishing and marketing company that specializes in reselling African American and Multi-Cultural Children’s Books (Pre-School to High School), Adult Books and other educational products. We also provide online and onsite book fairs and we work with youth through our Mindful Messages Mentoring Program.

Through smart marketing and product selection, the Ashay by the Bay Team has grown and our company now has the largest independent selection of African American Children’s books online. You can purchase Ashay's Books online and at book fairs, festivals, conferences and other events. We inventory a wide selection of books and educational materials for our customers. And because we search for the best deals, our books are also affordable and some are discounted 30% or more.

Customer Focus

Our customer focus is on kids first, they are ones who benefit the most.  Parents, as you build your home libraries, we encourage you to seek the advice of your children and allow them to participate in selecting some of their own reading material. Product Information

We select our books based on customer requests, marketability, availability and price. To bring you the best selection of quality books and educational products at the best price, we shop around among publishers, distributers, wholesalers and other suppliers for deals that we can pass the savings onto our customers.  In essence, we purchase books both direct and indirect and we also resell overstocks and returns and then discount our prices accordingly. Overstocks, are the additional copies that are printed when a publisher prints a book. These extra copies or excess inventory is liquidated at discounted prices. Returns are new books purchased by a retailer that did not sell and generally have a small mark or line at the top or bottom of the book.

Pricing

The prices advertised on this Site are for Internet orders only. Prices on some items may differ from those charged at Ashay by the Bay vending events and book fairs. Our prices and the availability of items are subject to change without notice. In addition, we will list both the manufacturers' suggested retail price and Ashay’s Price. Ashay’s Price, generally reflects a 5 to 30% discount, however many of our products are priced at suggested retail. California residents will be charged an additional Sales Tax of 8.375%.
